Many of our guests arrive here with  a 'To Do' list - they know what they'd like to do.  But others arrive with questions about how to spend their time.  Here's the list Bev made up to give folks when they arrvie - look at it now and start planning.

Half-day in Sheridan County

Fettermen Battlefield – a monument resurrected in 1908 marking the December 21st 1866 massacre.  I-90 South – Take exit 44 (20 miles south of Sheridan). 

Fort Phil Kearny Interpretive Center and Fort Grounds (1866-1868)

 

Wagon Box Fight (August 2nd 1867) – located in beautiful Story, WY

Wyoming State Fish Hatchery – located at 311 Fish Hatchery Rd, Story, WY

Big Horn Polo Matches – either at the Big Horn Polo Fields or the Flyhing H Polo Fields (June through August).

Shopping: downtown Sheridan – Monday through Saturday.

Full Day in Sheridan – Of course there is shopping!

King’s Saddlery and Don King Museum – Saturday 8 am to 5 pm. 184 N Main St.  Museum is found by going through the back of the store.

Sheridan County Museum – May 1pm – 5 pm daily: June – Labor Day – 10 am 0 6 pm Daily at 850 Sibley Circle (off 5th St near interstate)

The Mint Bar – since 1907, The Mint Bar has been the meeting place for cowboys, ranchers and dudes – a legendary bat at 151 N, Main St ; Monday through Saturday from 10 am – 2 am.

Trail End State Historic Site – a premier historic house museum – a perfect place to take a few moments to imagine what life might have been like in Wyoming over one hundred years ago. Located at 400 Clarendan Ave.  Open 9-6 June through August.

Elk and Bison Pasture (after Kendrick Park).  Found on corner of Highland St and Victoria St.

Shipton’s Big R Ranch – 2049 Sugarland Drive.  Interesting western wear, large animal supplies and fishing and hunting gear.

Koltiska Distillery –located at 644 Crook St. (307) 673-7307. Tours available.

Battlefield and Hike – One day

Take I-90 and go to Little Bighorn Battlefield. It will take one hour.  Need to hear the Ranger speak, go to the museum and see where the battles took place.  The bus tour is wonderful and tours are given hourly beginning at 9:00 and end at 4:00. 

Wonderful hike in Tongue River Canyon- Can spend 2 hours to 6 hours hiking….Walk as far as you want up the canyon and then back down.

Directions – Take I-90 west, take Hwy 14 towards Yellowstone and Ranchester.

Go through Ranchester and before the Dayton Bridge, take the River Rd 92 and stay along the road which turns into a gravel road.

At the fork, bare left. The distance from the road to the trailhead is 4.6 miles

Can play in the water, fish, or hike up the trail.
