6 Week Bran Muffins

This is one of those recipes of uncertain origin.  Did it come from a favorite aunt?, someone at church? a girlfrined of Bev's?

Don't know... doesn't matter.  This recipe gives you a long lasting bowl of nearly instant amazing muffins.  I can imagine this recipe being used on the Mayflower or by the original Betty Crocker (was there one?).

(in all recipes C = cup, T = tablespoon, t = teaspoon)

Combine and let set for about 30 minutes:

2 C boiling water
6 C All Bran Cereal in a large bowl


1 C melted shortening
3 C sugar
4 eggs beaten
2 t salt

Dissolve 5 t soda in 1 quart buttermilk

Add to all the above: 5 C flour

Optional: add 1 box raisins

Keep refrigerated for up to 6 weeks and use as needed during that time.

Place in a greased muffin pan and bake at 400°F for 20 minutes.
